If you re looking for 2D games then
Kick Off 2 (Amiga)
definitely deserves a mention (although I m not a huge fan of the gameplay due to the clunky controls, the pinball-like ball physics and the narrow view, it just feels like an unpolished Tekan World Cup clone to me) and
J.League Excite Stage 96 (Super Famicom)
is also pretty good (the 5-a-side and beach soccer mode are lots of fun in multiplayer).
In recent times Football Kingdom (Playstation 2) is prolly the only game whose gameplay came close to be as balanced and fun as SWOS s, too bad PS2 emulation requires ridicolous amounts of raw processing power and thus playing it online won t be feasible for at least 10 more years at best.
The Winning Eleven and FIFA series had their up and downs and although some of the titles were OK and had plenty of stuff going for them (the cool licenses to begin with) they re games in which the CPU aids the player to the point that it feels like you re just watching football on TV since you got very-little-to-no-control over whatever is taking place on the pitch, so yeah SWOS remains in a league of its own, at least gameplay-wise.

I wrote

I like playing Total Soccer, not Total Soccer 2000.
Total Soccer feels more like the good old swos than any other soccer games i know.
But it is not that easy game. In easy mode i have results like 1:4 0:3 1:1...
In expert mode 0:10 0:12 1:9 etc...
But i am not that strong.
Anco Goal is a good soccer game, too. I play it many years and i like it.

Is there a difference between Total Soccer and Total Soccer 2000 gameplay-wise?

Nice topic. @searain thanks for the info.
Gameplaywise my vote would go to Sensible Soccer ECE for PC, although the controls are less arcadestyle it makes up for it with more possibilities on the technical side.
